Poetry & Meditation Workshop
with Daragh Byrne
6pm - 7:30pm Thurs 5 May 2022
tickets: $25
suitable for ages 16+
This 90-minute workshop will guide you through a meditation into a time of deep listening to the wisdom and beauty of selected poetry.
Mindfulness - our human capacity to be aware of our experience, as it unfolds - is the birthplace of great poetry. The poet pays attention to moments in a similar way to a meditator - with the intention to capture and transmit that experience, via words. To receive a poem is to land in that experience again, to share something of the poet's inner world, reflective of your own.
After some brief words of introduction, you'll be guided through a short meditation, and treated to readings of poetry that is embedded in or related to the practice of mindfulness.
Daragh Byrne is an experienced meditation teacher and published poet. He has been running The Sydney Poetry Lounge since 2019. He is thrilled to offer this experience combining his deep love of each discipline.
You don't need any experience in meditation or poetry to benefit from this workshop - turn up with an open mind and an intention to simply listen!
